St. Andrew’s Altar Rosary Mission Statement:

  • Our mission is to spread devotion to Mary, our Blessed Mother, through recitation of the Rosary, works of charity, distribution of Rosary pamphlets, Rosary beads, and the supply of necessary articles for the maintenance of our sanctuary.
  • We reach out to the women of our parish by announcing and inviting all to join us at our monthly meetings that include recitation of the Rosary, refreshments and fellowship; while encouraging them to become members of the Society.
  • Visitation to homebound parish or Rosary members to offer prayer and ministry upon request.
Duties performed by St. Andrew’s Altar Rosary:
  • Members may volunteer to monthly linen duties. Each member has a month designated in which they are responsible for the refreshments for the monthly meeting. Usually two members share the responsibility for the monthly meeting. This is only once a year.
  • The Rosarians meet once a month, recite the Rosary, pray intentions and enjoy refreshments and fellowship. We invite all ladies of the Parish to join us every month.
  • The Rosarians do not meet in January or February.
  • The December meeting is celebrated with a Christmas Party.
  • Fundraisers are held throughout the year on an “as needed” basis.
Our works of charity and annual events are:
  • Gifts for children making their Confirmation
  • Gifts for First Communicants
  • All purchases of Altar linens
  • Laundering of all altar linens and vestments
  • Financial donations to St. Vincent De Paul Pantry at Thanksgiving and Christmas and anytime of need throughout the year.
  • Any donations that are requested by ministries of St. Andrews Parish are fulfilled upon request. Ie: St. Andrew’s Youth Group, the Red Robe Retreat, as well as charities outside of our Parish but in our local community.
  • May Crowning of the Blessed Mother include the children that have just made their First Holy Communion. This is coordinated with religious education. This takes place during mass. The First Communion children take part in a procession, placing flowers by the statue of the Blessed Mother and crown the Blessed Mother. All flowers on the Altar and for the Blessed Mother are provided by the Altar Rosary Society.
  • Donations in the past year have included a “Baby Shower” for First Way of Burlington County. First Way is a crisis center for women and children in need. First Way provides birth option counseling, provisions for babies and children in need. Our parish is always very generous in donating formula, diapers, clothing and needs for newborns. The Altar Rosary gives a financial donation as well.
  • The Red Robe Retreat is an activity for young parishioners that made their confirmation last year or beyond. It is a way to keep the youth of our Parish involved after they are confirmed, but are no longer in religious education.  Celeste Grant, our Religious Education Director, provides guest speakers, prayer and refreshments to those in attendance. The Altar Rosary provides a monetary donation to defer costs as needed.
  • We have provided financial donations to the Poor Clares of Chesterfield Monastery, a local monastery, with sisters as the daughters of Clare and Francis.
  • The St. Andrews Youth Group is an active group of young people, guided by Anne Marie McMullen, that takes part in religious and community activities. The young people attend retreats, visit the sick, make gifts for shut ins, participate in community service projects and many other helpful, devotional activities. The youth has an annual ski trip which is enjoyed greatly. The Altar Rosary Society offers a donation to assist any of the youth members that may need financial assistance for this trip. The Altar Rosary offers Anne Marie a donation so she can reward the members with an end of year activity or function. Anne Marie has been doing this for many years and is a cornerstone of faith for the youth of our parish youth.

The Altar Rosary Society celebrated 85 years of service
to the Parish of St. Andrews in October 2014.
